Photo Exhibit

The Coalition has an outstanding photo exhibit of 62 black-and-white photographs available for display in Washington. The photos were taken by twelve professional photographers in ten Washington communities.

The purpose of this exhibit is to stimulate discussion about homelessness and to help the general public see the impact of homelessness on families and individuals. We hope you’ll consider hosting the exhibit in your community.

Cost There is no cost to reserve the exhibit. The host community is responsible for a secure space for the exhibit, insurance and transportation.

Handling The exhibit is packaged in two cases, one hard-sided case that is 45” wide, 34” high and 12” deep, and one soft sided case that is 20”wide, 30” high and 11” deep. Both cases are on wheels. The larger one usually takes two people to load into a vehicle. Transporting the exhibit requires a hatchback or a station wagon.

Mounting The photo exhibit comes with a free-standing backdrop to which the pictures fasten with velcro. The backdrop is 112” wide and 80” high when set up. The backdrop can be set up by one person, but using two people works better. The pictures must be displayed on the backdrop provided or in another way that uses no pins, tacks or nails. The WSCH banner must be displayed with the exhibit.

Shipping The exhibit can be shipped via UPS. The larger case weighs 95 pounds and the smaller one weighs 47 pounds. Approximate one-way shipping costs from Tacoma: Seattle $119, Vancouver $119, Spokane $127.

Use Policy The WSCH Board of Directors has given first priority for reserving the exhibit to local homeless coalitions or task forces. Second priority is to individual shelter providers, asking that they work together with other shelter providers in the community. Third priority is to other interested parties working with local homeless advocates. Sponsors other than local coalitions must let the local coalition know that they are sponsoring the photo exhibit. The WSCH office will be glad to assist you in contacting your local coalition. The exhibit can stay in one community for up to six weeks.
